Why Every Parent Needs a HEALTH VISITOR

Meet Julia – A Trusted Guide for Growing Families

TickiKids is delighted to introduce Julia’s health service — a Health Visitor, a compassionate and expert-led support for families during their most important years. With over 14 years of experience as a Public Health Nurse, 10 years as a Health Visitor, and more than 6 years as an Infant Feeding Specialist, Julia brings a wealth of knowledge, empathy, and real-world insight to every family she supports.

What makes Julia’s support truly special is not just her professional expertise, but also her personal experience. She’s married and a proud mum of four adult children in their twenties, giving her a unique and relatable perspective that resonates with the families she works with. Her work is powered by a deep and genuine passion for Early Intervention — the belief that the choices we make in the earliest stages of life shape the wellbeing and health of our future. As she often says, “The seeds of a healthier life are planted in early childhood.”

Julia’s approach is warm, evidence-based, and deeply supportive, helping parents feel more confident and empowered every step of the way. Whether you're navigating baby’s first feeds, tackling toddler tantrums, or simply seeking reassurance, Julia is here to help you make informed, healthy choices for your little ones — because she knows that a great start builds a brighter future.

While your midwife supports you during pregnancy and your paediatrician monitors your child’s health, there’s another key professional who plays a crucial role in your parenting journey: a Health Visitor.

Health Visitors are highly trained public health nurses who specialise in supporting families with children from birth to five years. Think of them as your personal parenting guide — someone who understands both the clinical and practical sides of raising little ones. From infant feeding, sleep routines, and developmental milestones to emotional wellbeing, immunisations, home safety, and school readiness — they’re here to help you navigate it all with confidence.

When it comes to your baby’s health and wellbeing, every parent wants the very best — and that goes beyond just medical care!

When Can You See a Health Visitor?

Whether you're expecting your first baby or already parenting multiple children, your Health Visitor offers tailored support through every stage:

  • Antenatal support – Beyond your midwife and obstetrician, a Health Visitor can help answer pressing questions about pregnancy, preparing for birth, or managing expectations. Already a parent? Get expert tips on sibling adjustment, routines, and balancing the needs of more than one child
  • Ad hoc consultations – Need quick advice or reassurance? Ask about anything related to your baby or child’s growth, development, or behaviour
  • New birth visit – A gentle check-in soon after your baby arrives to support feeding, bonding, and your emotional wellbeing
  • 6–8 week postnatal review – Supporting both parent and baby during this important early transition

  • 8–9 month review – Guidance on weaning, mobility, communication, and early play
  • 12-month developmental review – Supporting the first major leaps in independence and development
  • 2-year developmental review – Focusing on communication, social skills, behaviour, and school readiness
  • breast- and bottle-feeding support – Helping you find the feeding approach that works best for you and your baby

Confident Feeding Starts with Caring Support

Feeding your baby is a journey, and every family is different. A Health Visitor is there to offer friendly, expert assistance — whether you're breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or doing a combination of both. She can help you establish breastfeeding, answer your questions, and explain how breast milk gives your baby the perfect nutrition while providing antibodies that help protect against infections and support healthy growth and development. If bottle-feeding is the right choice for your family, a Health Visitor will show you how to feed safely and responsively, creating the same opportunities for comfort, closeness, and bonding. The goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident — whatever feeding method you choose!

More than Medical Care

Unlike paediatricians who treat illnesses or midwives who focus on pregnancy and delivery, Health Visitors are there for the everyday moments that matter — from feeding and sleep struggles to parenting worries and mental health. They work in your home, local clinics, or virtually, giving advice that’s practical, personalised, and rooted in evidence.

When it comes to raising little ones, a Health Visitor is your secret weapon for confident parenting — and with Julia by your side, you’re never alone on the journey!

What the Parents Say:

  • Veronika,  First time mother: Julia has become our family member over the time we’ve known each other. I am a first-time mother and everything, every sound, every giggle, every bite – everything was new and unknown to me and quite scary sometimes. It is with Julia’s help and support that I now feel confident in my choices. I now know what to do and what to expect at every milestone that my baby boy hits. Julia has helped us through some very stressful situations and gave and keeps giving the advice essential to keep my mind at peace. Julia is a fantastic person, our son, my husband and I absolutely adore her and feel very lucky to have met her and to have her to guide us in this exciting journey of parenthood! I recommend her to everyone I know. Please do get in touch and you will so happy that you did!
  • Alina, First time mother: We worked with Julia when our baby was just a few weeks old, and her support has been incredible in helping us establish a feeding routine and to get some much needed rest. Julia initially came to help with breastfeeding problems. She was very kind, nurturing and calm, taking me through various positions to deal with a challenge that we’ve been having. Her advice was useful and tailored, but didn’t pressure me to do things a certain way. After this, Julia also came to us as a night nanny, for which we are still endlessly grateful. She spent the entire night taking care of our three-month old, feeding, changing nappies, and providing comfort, so that our baby didn’t cry at all! I felt confident that my baby is safe with Julia, which allowed me to finally get some sleep.
  • Dela: I’m so grateful for Julia, she’s truly amazing. Her positive attitude and calm presence gives me so much confidence as a new parent. She’s full of helpful suggestions, always guides me with care, and makes me feel completely safe and supported in caring for my baby. I couldn’t ask for better help!
