Anastasie Akibode is a French artist with African roots originally from Cape Verde, Benin, and Senegal. Her exposure to different cultures and interest in experiencing the uniqueness of each is the driving force behind her search for a common universal framework that unifies her art style.
As an electrical engineer for 13 years at VLSI Technology and Philips, Anastasie later moved to and settled in Dubai, where she converted her career prospects to a full-time artist in 2008. She furthered her art education at Dubai Art Center and was awarded the Merit Award for Painting in 2013.
A word from Zaahirah Muthy, the Exhibition Curator
"Anastasie's art is very impressive, spontaneous, and vivid. I am very impressed by her avalanche and substantial brushstroke, her dedication, commitment, and hard work of the artist. Each of her artwork resonates with her personality, character, and life experience which beautifully knits together to give birth a masterpiece. My favorite of her, “Empower” depicts the artist’s faces during different era of her life, amidst of the situation, she portraits an empowered Woman; the swirling light shades of the pink hues entice her feminine zest and her values."
