Tickikids Blog Fujairah > Family Storage Dubai: 7 Places for Prams, Bikes and Toys

It starts with one box. A bag of newborn clothes you might need again, the bouncer nobody uses any more, a stack of school artwork too precious to recycle. Then the spare room stops being a spare room. By the time the guest bed is buried under a pram, two car seats and a crate of Duplo, most of us have tried the balcony, and in August the balcony is no answer at all. A bike left out there in 45°C sun goes brittle at the grips, and the tyres go the same way.
So this is a practical guide to family storage in Dubai: what to keep, and which providers suit the things parents put away for a season or a few years between babies.
What families actually store
Family storage is odd. It is not a house move. It is a slow trickle in, with urgent trips back out, usually the week before the second baby arrives.
The other quirk is the materials. A lot of children's kit is plastic, foam, rubber and glue. Car seat foam, pram tyres, scooter wheels, ride-on toys, pool floats. All of it degrades faster in heat than a wooden wardrobe does. An unconditioned unit in Al Quoz or Jebel Ali in July can feel like the inside of a parked car.
Here is what tends to fill a family unit:
- Prams, travel cots, high chairs and car seats kept for a younger sibling
- Bikes, balance bikes and scooters during the summer months when nobody rides outdoors
- Outgrown toys and clothes, sorted by age, waiting for the next child or a cousin
- Holiday gear: the Christmas tree, Eid and Diwali decorations, camping kit for the cooler months
- School-year overflow: last year's books, project boards, uniforms in the next size up
- Keepsakes: first shoes, hospital bracelets, photo albums, the baby book
- Documents: passports, birth certificates, Emirates ID copies, and some family jewellery
That last group needs a different kind of storage, which is why one entry below is a safe deposit provider.
How we picked the seven
Searching for storage units Dubai for families mostly turns up the same warehouse listings with a stock photo of cardboard boxes. We looked for what a parent would ask. Are prices published? Is there a stated temperature, in actual numbers? Can you reach the unit on a Saturday afternoon? Will someone collect from the apartment, so you are not wedging a travel cot into a hatchback?
The ranking
1. Vachi Storage
Works for families who want climate control in numbers and a price list they can read before calling.
Vachi runs two climate-controlled sites in Al Quoz: 72 6B Street in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, about five minutes from Mall of the Emirates, and 8 5th Street in Al Quoz Industrial Area 4, which holds half-height lockers. Units are held at 20-25°C with humidity under 55%, HEPA filtration in the air-conditioned wings, 24/7 access, CCTV and alarms. The foam in a car seat, the rubber on pram wheels and the glue holding a ride-on toy together all tolerate a steady 22°C far better than a summer warehouse that swings past 50°C inside. Their personal storage page lists baby gear, strollers and bikes among the things it holds.
Bikes and scooters get their own service. If the family bikes sit idle from June to September, Vachi's bike storage starts from AED 770, and the details sit on vachistorage.com. For two small bikes and a scooter, a standard locker may be enough, so describe what you have when you call. The phone is answered 7am to 7pm daily, and booking works online.
The full tariff is published, which is rare here (Vachi and Storage Solutions Dubai are the two operators we found with a complete price ladder). Monthly rates in AED:
| Unit | Monthly price |
| 15 sq ft | AED 330 |
| 25 sq ft short locker / long locker | AED 450 / AED 625 |
| 35 sq ft short locker / long locker | AED 585 / AED 865 |
| 50 sq ft | AED 1,150 |
| 75 sq ft | AED 1,650 |
| 100 sq ft | AED 2,250 |
| 200 sq ft | AED 4,000 |
Contracts run from one month with no deposit, and annual plans come about 8% cheaper, with the first month free, free pickup and insurance included. The homepage shows a 4.8 Google rating, 1,000+ customers and five years in Dubai. The honest limitation is geography. Both sites are in Al Quoz, so families out on the JLT and Marina corridor, further south, or across in Sharjah may find somewhere closer, and that counts for a lot when you need the pram back at short notice.
2. Ayka
Works for families who live in a participating building and hate driving to an industrial area.
Ayka is a different idea entirely. It installs smart-lock storage units inside residential and commercial buildings, so your extra space sits a few floors below your apartment and opens from a phone app. Ayka pitches it as a fix for things piled on balconies and in parking areas, which will sound familiar. Its FAQ says units start from around AED 150 a month, and each building page shows the exact rate. The catch is obvious: it only helps if your tower has signed up.
3. Boxit
Works for families who store a handful of bulky items and never want to visit a warehouse.
Boxit prices by item, not by square foot. It collects from your door, stores in Dubai Industrial City and returns things on request, with a visual catalogue of what you have put away. The site shows an average of AED 185 a month for items and a minimum monthly rental of AED 90. Packing, pickup and delivery are charged separately, so a pram you want back in six months costs two trips on top of storage.
4. SafeStorage
Works for families who want a door-to-door service with a price per square foot.
SafeStorage quotes from AED 12.65 per sq ft, VAT included, and offers pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai, with same-day pickup for requests made before 12pm. Its own sizing guide puts 25-50 sq ft at roughly 10-20 boxes plus seasonal items, which is about the size of a typical family overflow. Standard access runs 8am to 8pm, and the minimum term is one month.
5. Delight Self Storage
Works for families spread across emirates, or living in Sharjah.
Delight operates in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. Its personal storage page states climate-controlled areas kept between 18°C and 24°C, biometric entry and individually alarmed units. Published guidance puts 10-25 sq ft at around AED 300-450 a month, with exact figures by quote. The minimum rental is one calendar month.
6. Local Self Storage
Works for families in the Jebel Ali and DIP area who want collection handled for them.
Local Self Storage is based in the FAB Warehouse Compound in Dubai Investment Park 1 and offers climate-controlled, individually locked units on month-to-month terms, plus collection and delivery. It has area pages for places like Dubai Marina and JLT, but those describe coverage, not extra branches. Pricing is quote-based.
7. KeepSecure
Works for families who need somewhere safe for passports, documents and jewellery.
To be clear, KeepSecure is not self-storage. It rents safe deposit boxes at branches in JLT and Business Bay, from AED 200 a month, with insurance of up to AED 5,000,000 per box. The smallest boxes suit passports and spare keys. For birth certificates, gold gifted at a naming ceremony or a grandmother's ring, it makes more sense than a cardboard box in a warehouse.

What to keep at home and what to store
A few rules we would pass on to any friend with a full box room.
Check car seat expiry dates before storing them. Most seats carry a manufacture or expiry date on a label or moulded into the shell. If a seat will pass its date before the next baby is likely to need it, storing it for three years is just paying rent on something you will throw away. Never keep a seat that has been in a collision.
Label boxes by age and season, not by child. "Boys 2-3 years, winter" is far more useful than "kids' stuff" when a cousin's baby arrives. Photograph each box's contents on your phone.
Keep the current size up and the next size in. The clothes and shoes your child will grow into within about three months belong at home. Anything further out can go.
Documents stay close or go in a vault. Passports get needed at short notice for travel and visa renewals. A general storage unit is the wrong place for them.
Clean before you store. Milk residue and crumbs in a pram basket invite pests, even in a cool unit.
Deflate, detach, drain. Take batteries out of toys, let the air out of pool floats, and fold the pram so the fabric is not stretched for months.
FAQ
How much does family storage in Dubai cost? Published entry points in this list start at around AED 90 a month at Boxit for a few items, while Vachi's smallest climate-controlled locker is AED 330. A family with a pram, car seats, bikes and several boxes will usually need 15-35 sq ft.
Is climate control worth it for baby gear? Mostly, yes. Plastics, foam, rubber tyres and adhesives are the materials most affected by high heat, and a lot of children's gear is made of exactly those.
Can I store a bike just for the summer? Yes. Vachi runs a dedicated bike service from AED 770, and the one-month minimums above mean you can pay only for the hot months.
Should I store a car seat for a second child? Only if it will still be within its expiry date when you need it and it has never been in an accident. Otherwise, pass it on or recycle it.
Where should I keep passports and birth certificates? At home in a fire-resistant folder, or in a safe deposit box like KeepSecure. Not in a general storage unit.
