The Wilhelm Foerster Observatory and the Planetarium at the Insulaner - a unique combination of the observatory and the planetarium not only for Berlin.
While you have the opportunity to discover stars and planets with the telescope at the Insulaner hill, you can experience a magnificent artificial starry sky on the planetarium dome. The spectrum of events there ranges from "Peters moon ride" for the small children over live readings or multimedia shows to scientific lectures on the latest results of the Mars rovers "Curiosity". The journey to the sky over Berlin has a long tradition at the Insulaner: the planetarium celebrated its 50th anniversary in June 2015.
Children - Universe
Children's thirst for knowledge is unlimited - like the universe. In the Planetarium at the Insulaner they receive answers in an age-appropriate and playful manner: the infants can choose whether they wish to explore the cosmos in the company of familiar fairytale characters or, somewhat cooler, in a virtual spaceship. And even the questions of the adults to the basics of astronomical research should not be left unanswered.
Not only the universe but also the earth can be discovered: our unique planet is at least as exciting as Mars or Jupiter. And the new insights about the abundance of life on our planet and its unique ecosystem can be immediately implemented at home.
