Deutsche Oper Berlin

It was almost like a miniature cultural revolution – when the citizens of Berlin dared to found the Deutsche Oper in 1912 in the (at that time) still independent town of Charlottenburg.

Singing in the Chorus

There are many ways at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for budding singers to get actively involved in opera and concerts. With a roll of approx. 150 active singers, the Children’s and Youth Chorus is an important constituent of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Young Opera

From Concerts for Babies to transcultural performances, from family workshops to composition labs, from seminars for teachers to culture programmes for schools… Young Opera invites everyone to See!, Hear! and Get Involved! In the process schools, kindergartens, refugee shelters and youth centres will be visited.

Children's opera for 6-10 year-olds.

The Opernmäuse ('opera mice') are back and they're taking over the opera house! Looking, listening, learning..., they're peeking behind the scenes, taking tours and workshops, being asked for their impressions at rehearsals of children's productions and generally peering and probing into every nook and cranny of the Opera.

Initiatives for families

The whole family is invited to visit the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The opening event will be a celebration of the start of the new season. In the family workshops the guises of other characters will be adopted and new soundscapes will be created. And there will be much to see, hear and wonder at on the family tours.

Opera Workshops

Workshops on practically every production are offered, bookable in conjunction with an attendance at an opera. In the run-up to the performance school groups not only learn the storyline of the relevant work but also get to grips in a fun way with the language of theatre, the production and the music. Workshops are held in the opera house or at your school. Duration: approx. 2 school hours.
