The Volkspark Wilmersdorf and the Rudolph-Wilde-Park spread out together in a glacial gully
The Rudolph-Wilde-Park, together with the Volkspark Wilmersdorf, creates an inner-city green corridor, which is an important and diverse recreation centre for the surrounding residential area with high population density. One attraction is the Golden Deer, the emblem of Schöneberg, which is perched on a 8.5 m high pillar in the middle of a fountain. Appealing is also the view of the Carl-Zuckmayer-Brücke with its impressive staircases and stone statues, which houses the subway station Schöneberg. To the west of it, there is the landscaped part of the park with a pond surrounded by weeping willows and the sunbathing lawns, on which you can play the football or badminton. On the Kufsteiner Straße you will reach the passage to the public park Wilmersdorf.
Two parks that guarantee variety
Although the two parks can be considered as a single entity, they are by no means uniform. Its character changes from one section to the next, linking a natural pond in the west to a representative ornamental square "Schmuckplatz" in the east. The most frequented are the central meadows east of Uhlandstrasse and the large playing area on Hans - Rosenthal - Platz. A mixed audience and young people from neighboring schools visit the parks.
Subway station as an architectural highlight in Rudolph-Wilde-Park
With the subway station, Johann Emil Schaudt, who was also the architect of the world-famous department store KaDeWe, succeeded in creating an architectural gem despite difficult ground conditions.
Hirschbrunnen in Rudolph - Wilde - Park
In the center of the terrace stands the Hirschbrunnen, the symbol of the park. In the middle of a round fountain, there is an eight-meter-high column, on which stands a gilded deer with magnificent antlers.
Park with scenic character
West of the subway station, Rudolph-Wilde Park has a scenic character. This is emphasized by a pond, which is located in front of the traffic construction. The shore is designed and planted near-naturally. If you want to listen to the concert of frogs, you can sit on the narrow terrace in front of the railway station. The platform just above the water surface is decorated with magnificent potted plants and flowerbeds. From the pond, a picturesque meadow spreads out surrounded by individual trees and framed on both sides by grove. A slightly curved path leads through the lowlands. In the slope, you will find calm zones with benches.
