Visit Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden and learn all about Green Cascade Frog.
A frog commonly seen during the rainy season in or near mountain streams. It is characterized by a green back with irregular brown blotches, brown sides and a pale lateral band beneath the eye.
The Green Cascade Frog breeds from May to July. The male is almost half the size of the female and it sends out rasping high-pitched bird-like calls during the mating period. The frog is also known to be highly odorous. As a survival tactic, it secretes a pungent fluid that is distasteful to predators such as snakes.
