(Cancelled) "Pang Tung!" - Body Percussion and Kayat Vocals Workshop

(Cancelled) "Pang Tung!" - Body Percussion and Kayat Vocals Workshop

A music workshop presenting rhythms and melodies from the Malay community from the Nusantara, through interactive usage of body percussion and voice.

Participants will be introduced to the core Malay rhythms and learn how to recreate these rhythms, without the need to use any drums, just through body percussion.

The workshop will also highlight a unique vocal delivery style of the traditional pantun (rhyme/poetry), called Kayat, which developed from the Rantau Kuantan community in Riau.

The panel will also be sharing insights on several compositional ideas and the process taken by both ensembles to produce Tempoh despite being miles apart.
