Planning fun-filled activities for your little ones this June holidays?

 

Children’s Season is back again! Join Xiao Qing at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall on an exciting adventure to discover the different types of Chinese craftsmanship and explore the colourful world of Nian Hua (new year prints)!

“Be a Little Craftsman” Heritage Hunt (Supported by River Valley High School)

  • Date: 4 Jun – 26 Jun 2022 (closed on Mondays)
  • Time: 10.00am – 5.00pm (Note: Extended opening hours till 9pm on 4 Jun and 25 Jun 2022)
  • Recommended for children aged 5 years old and above.

Looking for hands-on activities to explore the fascinating world of Chinese craftsmanship with your little ones? Join us in this complimentary “Be a Little Craftsman” heritage hunt that comes with an activity kit (while stocks last)! Get your mobile devices ready and search for clues to help our mascot, Xiao Qing find the secret code to travel back to the present in this “phygital” experience. Redeem an exclusive prize when you complete the hunt. The activity is co-designed with students from River Valley High School.

“Meet My Unusual Family” Interactive Storytelling & Workshop (Presented by Theatre Practice 实践剧场)

  • Date: 25 Jun 2022
  • Time: 4.00pm–5.30pm (session 1); 7.00pm–8.30pm (session 2)
  • Recommended for children aged 4 to 8 years old.

This storytelling and workshop session is conducted in Mandarin.

Guai Guai, a magical monster who is always teased by her family of magical monsters, needs your help to find her special monster powers! Join us for a 90 mins fun-filled and tactile in-person experience – where children will learn more about self-discovery and acceptance through interactive storytelling, as well as a hands-on arts and craft session. The session is conducted in Mandarin, making this a great way to engage your child in Chinese language and culture.

Paint Your Own Nian Hua Workshop

  • Date: 11 June, 18 Jun 2022
  • Time: 4.00pm – 5.30pm
  • Recommended for children aged 7 and above. Children aged 6 years old and below shall not be admitted.

Pick up cool printing and painting techniques in this workshop to create your very own Nian Hua (New Year prints) with the use of Chinese ink and watercolour as you and your little one discover Chinese symbolisms and traditions behind traditional woodblock-printed images. During the workshop, you will understand more about some of the common auspicious figures found in these traditional new year prints.

Alternatively, the Memorial Hall is a 20 minute walk from Toa Payoh Station (NS19) or Novena Station (NS20)

Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), from Changi Aiport towards Tuas
Take Exit 17 (Balestier Road/Thomson Road/Upper Thomson Road) onto Jalan Datoh. Turn left at Balestier Road, then turn left at Ah Hood Road. 

Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), from Tuas towards Changi Airport
Take Exit 17D (Thomson Road/Toa Payoh) onto Jalan Toa Payoh. Turn right to stay on Thomson Road. Turn left to Balestier Road, then turn left at Ah Hood Road.

Parking

The Memorial Hall does not offer parking spaces. Visitors may park at Zhongshan Mall, HomeTeamNS-JOM Clubhouse, or Ah Hood Gardens housing estate.
