In the month of May, they celebrate Mother’s Day and this is part of a series of workshops where a parent and child can work on a project together to present to the mother, honouring her in the family.
It also encourages parent-child bonding.
This 2-hour workshop introduces participants to micro:bit hardware, the block-based programming environment, and how to create a digital greeting card using the micro:bit.
Participants will also learn how to:
- Give instructions using the block-based programming environment to display different images,
- Upload the program onto the microcontroller,
- Use push buttons on the micro:bit as a form of input,
- Display messages and music by pressing a button.
Each parent-child pair of participants is entitled to only one micro:bit and a set of kit. Hence, participants are required to bring their own micro:bits if they have received one from IMDA Digital Maker workshops previously.
A minimum of 5 pairs is required to start the workshop.
Participants are advised to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the workshop, as allocated seats will be released to interested participants 5 minutes after the start of the workshop.
This Digital Maker workshop is proudly brought to you by Info-communications Media Authority of Singapore (IMDA).
This workshop is suitable for participants aged 7 and above, with an accompanying adult.
Registration is required and material fee ($12 per parent-child pair) is payable to the organizer.
