Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer continues to stand as one of the greatest artists of all time. However, his clever usage of light and form and creation of domestic scenes did not gain fame until the late 19th century, two centuries after his death. Today, admirers and appreciators of Vermeer’s trek across the globe with the yearning of seeing his works in the flesh.
In 2023, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam held a once-in-a-lifetime Vermeer exhibition, and tickets sold out instantly.
