Little Smarties philosophy incorporates happiness and a joy for learning, taught and practiced through play.

The children begin to gain their independence by being part of a caring community throughout their time at Little Smarties. Its experienced and committed staff provide high quality learning experiences through a broad balanced early years curriculum based on play and communication. Self-esteem and confidence are fostered and respect and tolerance developed through interaction and co-operation. The villa setting provides a homely environment for children's first experience of school and is surrounded by a large grassy garden which is used on a daily basis.

Little Smarties is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly have in-house workshops and training courses. Staffing ratios comply with the UK's Children's Act Regulations and the guidelines set by OFSTED in the UK. Throughout the nursery they use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to guide our practices with the children. The nursery is divided into different age groups. The age indication is an estimate, and depending on each child's progress in all aspects, he/she may be advanced into the next class under the Principals and Teachers discretion.

2 Months to 18 Months

There are facilities to take the best care of a limited number of babies in the nursery. The management have carefully selected all staff, not only for their qualified status, but also for their experience and dedication to childcare practices, motivation and their caring and sensitive attitude to both children and parents.

1.5 Years to 2.5 Years

Young children are very keen, observant, curious and interested in trying new things. The curriculum introduces academic concepts like colours, shapes, numbers and the phonic-sounds. These concepts are presented and taught within the children's level of understanding and are built up progressively throughout the school year. The 2 year old's curriculum also includes sensory and repetitive activities for their development.

2.5 Years to 3 Years

At this age, children go on a voyage of discovery and we hope they will find it exciting, absorbing and inspiring! We encourage the development of the children's self-esteem, confidence in themselves and their own abilities and independence. The children are encouraged to identify common objects and speak in three to five word sentences to communicate their needs. The curriculum incorporates music, arts and crafts and dramatic play, to shape the children's creativity and imagination.

3 Years to 4 Years

The nursery's mission is to provide a rich and joyous learning environment that will stimulate children's minds, nurture their souls and embrace the wonder and beauty of the world. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is designed to nurture a child's multiple intelligences. Little Smartiesprovide a holistic approach to educating the child. As the children get older they are becoming more and more active with increasing skills in different areas of their development. The class focuses on preparing children for the 'big school', through encouraging our 'learning through play' curriculum.
