About the Artist
Musician, vocalist, and composer Dhafer Youssef is internationally acclaimed for redefining the oud for contemporary music. Drawing on Arab musical traditions, Sufi heritage and jazz, he creates a distinctive sound that blends moving vocals, intricate textures, and global influences. Born in Tunisia into a family of Muezzins, his musical roots lie in Quranic recitation, while his move to Vienna opened the door to jazz and cross-cultural collaboration. Today, Youssef is recognised as one of the world's leading contemporary oud artists, performing on major stages and festivals worldwide.
