The NSO Symphony Orchestra is performing publicly for the last time with a gala concert ‘A Night at the Movies…The Final Curtain’, on Friday 27 April at the Emirates Palace Hotel Auditorium on Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Matinee/Open Rehearsal 4.30pm; Evening Gala 7.30pm
Conducted by NSO Music Director Andrew Berryman, the concert will feature some of the most exciting orchestral music ever written for film: the Star Wars title theme, Pirates of the Caribbean, Offenbach’s Can-Can from Moulin Rouge, and Strauss’s Die Fledermaus opera overture.
Concert Master Nadine Artuhanava is the featured violin soloist for Ladies in Lavender, while the NSO’s Three Sopranos & Tenors will perform Brindisi from Verdi’s La Traviata. NSO’s rendition of Bill Whelan’s Riverdance will be accompanied by world champion Irish dancers. Emirati composers Eman AlHashimi, Hamad AlTaee and Italian composer Federico Torri's orchestral pieces will also be featured. The Chorus, made up of members of the Dubai Singers and students from Al Raha International School, will perform the stunning O Fortuna from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, as well as the concert’s pièce de résistance, the stirring chorus in the powerful 1812 Overture, and the concert’s finale.
