By-the-Park has faithfully delivered quality and meaningful preschool programme to their charges.
Their program is supported by 4 core beliefs:
- Children are active learners who learn at different pace and are motivated towards areas of their interests
- Teacher-child relationship is a core pillar in the child’s learning journey
- Classroom environment is a critical learning facility to encourage children’s active learning
- Parents and the community are important partners in their learning journeys
They unpack these guiding principles into a program that is fun and meaningful for all, children, teachers and families.
They currently have the following programmes:
- Toddlers (18 months to 2.5 years) - The emphasis for toddlers, due to their young age, is mainly of discovery and exploration. Children at this age group would require concrete activities as they learn from their environment. As such, the curriculum for toddlers emphsize on hands-on activities that allow the children to build relationships with the caregivers around them, as well as develop holistic and self-help skills.
- Nursery One (2.5 years to 3.5 years) - Children in this age group mature rapidly in the verbal and emotional aspect. It is within this time frame where children are distinguishing their identity as well as better understanding their surroundings. As such, the emphasis for the Nursery 1s is still centred mainly on discovery and exploration, with a touch of academics, to lay the foundation for their future years.
- Nursery Two (3.5 years to 4.5 years) - The Nursery 2 years are crucial in the sense that it sets the foundation for the Kindergarten years. The children in this age group are still given the opportunity to explore, but are now also empowered to take control of their learning and development. While discovery and investigation are still a crucial portion of the children’s learning at this level, teacher-directed learning also comes into place, with the academics to ensure readiness for the Kindergarden levels. Children at this age group are also appropriately introduced to current affairs, such as current news and recent happenings, to keep them aware of their surroundings and the happenings of the environment.
- Kindergarten One (4.5 years to 5.5 years) - In Kindergarten 1, the holistic development of the children is continued through the interactions between the children and the teachers. In addition to the teacher-directed academics that the children will experience, young ones will also have ample opportunities to work their creative juices as they engage in more critical thinking and problem-solving based activities, to develop their inquiry skills. As like the Nursery 2 children, the Kindergarten 1s will also be exposed to current affairs, to keep them well informed of world.
- Bridging Programme - By-the-Park’s Bridging Programme aims to address such needs by working on individual plans tailored to suit your child’s needs. Through various small and large group activities, children learn to interact and make meaningful connections with their atypical peers. They believe that such integration will provide the platform for children with different needs to be an integral part of community.
