Ichiban (Yunnan) Childcare Centre aims to provide a creative curriculum and quality environment that will help young children develop a love for learning and unlock their full potential

Curriculum:

Chinese - They focus on building a strong foundation and interest in the Chinese language. Rhymes, stories and games to instill children’s love for Chinese language. Children will learn to write Chinese characters from K1 to K2.
Music & Movement - Their program exposes children to a wide rage of musical activities that will help develop their aesthetic senses. Children can learn to listen, sing, move rhythmically, experience sounds with simple musical instruments.
Language Art - For all levels, they have story-telling, action songs, puppets plays and nursery rhymes where children are encouraged to express themselves. K1 & K2 will have picture talk and creative writing fortnightly to enhance creativity thinking and oral efficiency.
Arts & Crafts - Their art program will provide opportunities for children to have many hands-on activties with art materials so they may express their feelings and understanding of the world. These art activities enhance artistic ability and creativity in children and support and foster children’s power of imagination and self-expression.
Outdoor Play - Their outdoor play activities involving basic movement and balance, ball games, cycling and water play have been carefully planned to promote your child’s motor coordination skill and physical development.
Field Trips - They organize outings four times a year. This is a good learning experience for the children. Some of the activities that they have conducted are visits to Sentosa Underwater World, museums, and Science Center. They are looking into more exciting destinations in their future field trips.
Reading & Phonics - They are using Jolly Phonics, Jolly Grammar and Fitzroy Readers. Children will learn the five skills of Jolly Phonics: letter sounds, letter formation, blending for reading, segmenting for writing and tricky words. They will be introduced the alternative letter sounds. Key grammar concepts such as nouns, verbs and parsing will also be taught. The Fitzroy Method is built on decades of experience of the abilities of the child mind. At the same time it is completely systematic. This means that your child will always feel on top of the reading-and-writing learning process, not overwhelmed, since every step of the way is carefully calibrated.
Mathematics - They are using Growing with Mathematics programme. It utilizes children’s experiences, interests, and ability to think and provides mathematics learning that is active, rich in natural and mathematical language, and filled with thought provoking opportunities. It also develops both depth and breadth of understanding of key mathematical concepts. It embeds problem solving and encouraging the use of powerful thinking strategies. Children will be led through fun and exploratory activities to understand and acquire mathematical concepts and vocabulary such as matching, sorting, classifying, grouping, counting, time and measurement.
