KiidsConnect 2017 is a landmark and innovative peer-to-peer non-profit performing arts carnival for young people, performed by young people and hosted by young people aged 7 - 14 years old.
In the spirit of inclusivity, this year they are reaching out to 6 neighborhood schools to perform:
31 May 2017 3 pm:
- Farrer Park Primary School (2 Farrer Park Rd) - If mobile applications had to go to school, where would they go? The Playstore of course! Piknowcchio’s Playstore is a modern adaptation of Pinocchio, where the audience joins Whatsapp and Instagram in their journey of self-discovery in this digital age!
- Tampines Primary School (250 Tampines Street 12) - Life is like a book. The chapters change but they are all connected to a story. Some say that it is best to read from the beginning to the end. Others say it is best understood from the end to the beginning. Follow the journey as things move and shift over time for the students in a primary school.
1 June 2017 3 pm & 7pm:
- Anderson Primary School (19 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9) - The Jellicle Cats gather together at the Jellicle Ball to decide which of them will ascend to the mysterious Heaviside Layer to be reborn. Come and watch this PURRfect rendition of the award winning musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber!
- Maris Stella High School (25 Mount Vernon Road) - Four friends travel to a mighty wizard to have their wishes granted. One wishes for brains to be intelligent. Another asks for courage to brave the world. The third friend seeks a heart to feel compassion and the last, desires the warmth of home. Will they get their wishes granted? Watch this fun adaptation of the much-loved ‘Wizard of Oz’ and learn what it takes to make wishes come true.
2 June 2017 3pm & 7 pm:
- Palm View Primary School (150 Compassvale Bow) - Four friends: an elephant, a monkey, a hare, and a bird, perched acrobat-fashion one on top of the other, under a tall tree laden with fruits. Are they performing a new circus act? Or is there more to this than meets the eye? Find out what keeps four friends, well, balanced.
- Sengkang Green Primary School (15 Fernvale Road) - Have you ever thought about how objects are named? Inspired by Andrew Clements’ “Frindle”, this devised performance follows the journey of a child who, out of curiosity, attempts to disrupt the way things are taken for granted simply by changing the name of one object. Watch how this little venture awakens the imagination of the entire city.
This festival is an opportunity for parents to bring their children to a fun event and spark an interest in the performing arts by watching other children perform on stage and seeing their peers manage the event and develop leadership and teamwork skills.
One day pass entitles to watch only ONE performance a day, at 3pm or 7pm.
