LEAP foregrounds the need to build in children, the need to see learning as a process of exploration.

Out of the four skill domains of literacy (Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing), reading is without a doubt, the single most important skill. This is because a child's ability to read will determine, in education, the child's ability to perform in school. A strong foundation built in the early years is therefore essential.

The LEAP learning environment provides vast opportunities for high levels of interaction to take place within which strong emphasis is placed on the promotion of positive attitudes towards self and others.

At LEAP, they work towards achieving that and in the midst of it all, generate what we would love to hear from young children, the thrills in their laughter.

One of the key areas of benefit that reading to young kids early is that it exposes children to meaning making. The process of reading shows to children that the 'wriggles and lines' on a page can convey a message. Reading should not be a process of barking at print. Rather, the process of comprehension of text is integral. To allow children to understand that, being read to at an early age by adults opens that door to literacy. When comprehension of text happens, comprehension of the environment around them and the sensitization to their surroundings is sharpened.

With that in mind, all the programmes provided at the centre are interactive and engaging. Teaching methods and curriculum are all aligned to the MOE pre-school learning outcomes. Reading materials are placed in every room and equipped within access for all children. As teachers move towards giving structure to learning for the older learners, acknowledgment is also given to the fact that assimilation of skills and celebration of overcoming challenges takes place.
