March Holidays Family Fun @National Museum of Singapore

This March holidays, our Plastic: Remaking the World special exhibition takes centre stage with engaging workshops and craft activities for families!

Join us and learn about Singapore’s journey to becoming environmentally sustainable, and get hands-on with different types of plastics and other materials. As part of our efforts to contribute to visitors’ well-being, we will also be offering a respite programme for children with special needs and their caregivers to relax amid nature.

There is so March to see and do at the National Museum, and we look forward to having you with us!

Through the Forest: A Respite Programme for Caregivers of Children with Special Needs

  • Meeting point: Seminar Room, Level 2
  • $10 per adult-child pair, $5 for each additional adult (inclusive of GST)
  • Suitable for children with special needs aged 5 – 12, and their caregivers

Are you a caregiver for a child with special needs, who would appreciate a March-needed break? We are here for you, with two parallel experiences for caregivers and children based on our much-loved Story of the Forest immersive installation!

Part 1: Children and caregivers can enjoy a relaxing tour of Story of the Forest together, engaging your senses as you “meet” the plants and animals of the Malayan peninsula.

Part 2: Caregivers will proceed outdoors to the Fort Canning Park for a 1-hour nature and forest bathing experience, in the heart of the city. This is a gentle guided sensory exploration facilitated by a certified nature and forest therapy guide, where you will be invited to open your senses and (re)discover yourself and others, as well as the pleasures and delights that nature offers. Concluding with a tea sharing session, this nature and forest bathing experience will leave you ready to attend the world with a rested mind and body, and rejuvenated spirit. This activity is held in partnership with Xiu Nature Connections.

Concurrently, your child will be engaged in a digital illustration workshop developed by Superhero Me with deaf wildlife illustrator Kenneth Chin and 11-year-old animal enthusiast Fong Git Yu. In addition to learning more about the animals found in Singapore’s natural environment, your child will be guided to draw using Procreate on an iPad, and use animation to create GIFs.

Drop-in Craft Activity: Upcycled Coin Pouch from NMS’ PVC Banners

  • 9 Mar | 10.30am – 12.30pm & 2pm – 5pm
  • Gallery Theatre Foyer, Basement Level
  • Suitable for families with children aged 3 and above

On your next visit to the National Museum, look up and notice the large exhibition banners on the façade of our building. Give a second life to our old exhibition banners and create your own samosa-shaped coin pouch as a unique souvenir of your museum visit!
