Discover the amazing world of pollinators and the fascinating role that they play in the pollination process, from flower to fruit and seed. Learn more about the relationships between pollinators, plants and humans through interactive hands-on activities at the Centre for Ethnobotany.

Courageous Puteri Kemang

A Collaboration with Malay Heritage Centre

Be enthralled by the tale of a warrior princess, Puteri Kemang (Princess Kemang) who is skilled in both sword fighting and archery. While hunting in a forest one day, she encounters a terrifying demon. Join us for an immersive storytelling session with Malay Heritage Centre’s docent and storyteller, Hafiz Rashid and find out how Princess Kemang uses her wits to escape this perilous situation.

Discover more about the fruits and plants associated with the story on a tour around the Centre for Ethnobotany and create your own batik simbut mini drawstring bag using natural materials and inks derived from plants.

This programme is held in collaboration with the Malay Heritage Centre.

Storytelling: A Crab, A Shell and a Little Help

Hershie the hermit crab has outgrown his shell. With great determination, he embarks on a journey to find a new shell. Along the way he meets new friends and discovers litter on the beach and in the sea. Join us to find out more about Hershie’s journey and what happens when we throw our trash into the sea. Participants will also have a chance to exercise their creativity in a hands-on craft activity using natural materials.

Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis upon receipt of registration form. Do note that the closing date for registration is 10 calendar days before the programme begins, or when the class is full. You will be placed on our waiting list if the programme is full.

 

An email confirming the status of the event will be sent to you at least one week prior to the event.
