Academy of Jazz is founded by award winning Teacher and Choreographer, Sonia Herron in an attempt to combine her passion for dance and drama with her passion for teaching to form a new style of dance studio that captures the best of both worlds! Academy of Jazz has established itself as Hong Kong’s premier JazzAddict and Urban Ignition Dance and Performing Arts Studio which has also gained a status for producing Number 1 Top Results in Jazz dance examinations in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. It offers classes ranging from Jazz to Ballet to Hip Hop and Musical Theatre.

- Jazz
Academy of Jazz has made a name for themselves as the premier Jazz Dance studio in Hong Kong. Jazz dance is based on a strong technical foundation in Ballet, however it expands upon the full range of movement and expression available to incorporate elements of modern, funk, lyrical, musical theatre and contemporary. They use pop music and upbeat expressive choreography to encourage students to master their bodies and bring out their personalities to shine. Jazz dance teaches children musicality, balance, posture, coordination, expression, and strengthens and tones the body.
- Hip Hop
Academy of Jazz uses the popular Urban Ignition Hip Hop Curriculum to provide a basic foundation for hip hop classes. The syllabus provides a technical base in Hip Hop with a strong style element and room for creative solo and crew choreography.
Technical amalgamations incorporate arm and foot combinations, travels and turns, isolations, tutting and floor work. Students participate in annual examinations and performances throughout the year including our annual showcase.
- Ballet
Academy of Jazz offers the beautiful and world renown RAD ballet syllabus in both of the studios as well as in clubhouses around Hong Kong. Teachers are giving students the strongest foundation in the poise and technique this syllabus offers.
