A fairytale comes alive thanks to the magic of an exuberant orchestra
Let your child’s imagination run wild at this enchanting concert inspired by a classical fairytale and mesmerising sound paintings. Prokofiev’s symphonic fairytale Peter and the Wolf features a narrator telling a children’s story, while different instruments in the orchestra illustrate the characters in the tale. The grandfather is a grumpy bassoon, the duck becomes an oboe, and you are sure to hear the fearsome wolf in the horns. This popular work from the classical repertoire is complemented by Insect World, composed by Doming Lam, the “father of Hong Kong modern music”. Five delightful movements sonically mimic the motion of various insects, including the busy bees, fluttering butterflies and the silkworm. Can you hear them all?
It takes the energetic and youthful exuberance of the Hankyung arte Philharmonic and conductor Wilson Ng to make the magic come alive! You don’t want to miss this marvellous opportunity for the young and young at heart to soak up the mind-blowing power of an exceptional orchestra while experiencing the thrill of a live performance.
