Hong Kong City Rugby Club

Hong Kong City Rugby Club

City Rugby Football Club was founded in 2000, and coming to the first decade, it has been at the forefront of club rugby’s evolution in Hong Kong. CityRFC is one of the very few clubs which proactively promote tertiary rugby within the local community.

Before the club was established, a group of enthusiastic rugby talents from City University had won the Tag Open Champion in 1998. In 1999, the players had joined DeA training and started playing full contact rugby. With little experience for just a year in full contact rugby, our founder Mr Wai Leung was eager to lead our warriors who were talented in playing rugby 7 to form the Club.

In 2000, CityRFC was able to compete with other clubs in the league games and won the Summer Touch and Tag competition and the women’s team also won the Open 1st runner-up which was a remarkable year for CityRFC to start with.
