Book Sharing of Hong Kong Market Sea Fish (In Cantonese only)

Used to be a fishing village, Hong Kong has a rich fish-eating culture. You can find all kinds of fish delicacies in restaurants and on your dining table. However, as a Hong Kong citizen, how much do you know about the fish sold in local wet markets?

Wet markets in Hong Kong sell hundreds of varieties of local or foreign fish. The recently published book, "Hong Kong Market Sea Fish",records more than 300 fishspecies sold in Hong Kong wet markets. Besides having coloredspecimen photos of these fishes, this book also introduces their ecological information and cultural stories. The Hong Kong Maritime Museum has invited the author, Keith Lai, to share his book,some interesting fish stories and fish research knowledge, such as fish classification and the usage of specimens.

Introduction of Keith Lai:

Keith is the author of “Hong Kong Market Sea Fish”, the committee of the Ichthyological Society of Hong Kong, advisor and speaker of a fish-eating culture education organisation.

Keith was born in Hong Kong. He is keen on fish-relatedculture, fish-eating culture, fishclassification and drawing. Specialising in fish taxonomy, he obtained his master’s degree fromNational Taiwan Ocean University. He is currently committed to promoting local fish culture and popularising fish science.
