This lecture reveals a hidden history of Japanese language, focusing on a newspaper article regarding the history of the Waglan lighthouse. 

The documentary "Lighthouse Memories: Waglan Island Lighthouse" introduces an article which was published on May 1st, 1856 in the "Chinese Serial". The article described western-style lighthouse with an illustration of a lighthouse, which people in Hong Kong, Chinese and Japanese had no clue what the western lighthouse was like at that time.
