This permanent interactive exhibition introduces the innovative technologies and science goals of James Webb Space Telescope, the largest infrared space telescope ever built. The exhibition also features a model of the Webb telescope, supplemented by exhibits that explain the science behind infrared astronomy and display Webb’s masterpiece images.
Astronomers from all over the world waited for more than 20 years before they witnessed the successful launch of James Webb Space Telescope on 25 December 2021. After about 200 days of deployment and sailing, Webb thrusted to the second Lagrangian point 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth and began to operate immediately.
Webb's scientific research is in full swing. With the new data received, astronomers keep writing new chapters of human understanding of the universe, and even rewriting the history of cosmic evolution.
