Oceans cover more than 70 percent of the Earth's surface, yet we have better maps of the surface of the Moon and Mars than we do the ocean floor.
The OMNIMAX Show "Oceans: Our Blue Planet" takes us on a global odyssey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on Earth. New ocean science and technology has allowed us to further into the unknown than we ever thought possible. From the coastal shallows to deeper, more mysterious worlds, we reveal the untold stories of the oceans' most fascinating creatures. Led by the playful dolphins, we first visit the coral reefs and meet the ingenious tuskfish that uses a tool to open its food. In the great forests of the sea, we also find a cunning octopus who shields herself in an armoury of shells to hide from predators.
Join us for this extraordinary journey to discover the spectacular world of life beneath the waves. Listen. Tuskfish is one of the few coral fish that uses coral outcroppings as a tool. By smashing a clam on the coral repeatedly, this tuskfish is finally able to break the shell of the clam and get its meal. Dumbo octopus, as its name implies, has earlike fins for moving through the water. It lives at depths of 3000 to 7000 mstres, which is the deepest of any known octopus. Some bottlenose dolphins rub themselves against gorgonian, a bushy-like coral with a mucus that has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. This may be a behaviour that the dolphins try to protect themseleves from infection. As sea otters live in cool waters, they must eat about 30% of their body weight every day to keep themselves warm and sea urchin is one of their favourite foods. They also like to rest by floating on their back.
