Kirsten’s Zoo was started by Kirsten Mitchell in 2008 as a response to a number of factors, in particular, the need to have a centralised point of contact on Hong Kong Island to help home cats and dogs, as well as other animals in need.

Kirsten’s Zoo is a not for profit, volunteer run animal rescue organisation. Its mission is to stop the flow of unwanted animals into shelters that euthanise pets. Kirsten’s Zoo is committed to partnering with the community to provide safe shelter to lost, abandoned, surrendered and neglected or abused animals and to care for and rehabilitate them until they are able to be placed in loving, adoptive homes. Kirsten’s Zoo ensures that the animals are spayed, neutered and have medical care provided to them. After that they board them in foster homes until we get them adopted.
