Where does the oxygen we breathe come from?
Rainforests are responsible for roughly one-third (28%) of the Earth’s oxygen but most (70%) of the oxygen in the atmosphere is produced by marine plants such as microalgae. In Mexico, one large billboard algae photobioreactor that purifies the air, equivalent of 1200 trees!
After completing this class, you can bring home an air purifying device that aims to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen in indoor environments, such as offices and homes, by harnessing the photosynthetic properties of algae.
In this workshop, you will:
- Learn about the working principle and biology of algae farm
- Learn how to safely operate woodworking tools such as hand drill and hand saw
- Build a portable air purifying algae farm made from pallet woods and recycled plastic bottles

Preparation:
- Bring 4 plastics bottles
- Wear closed-toe non-slip shoes (no sandals)
- Tie up long hair and avoid loose accessories
