5-day Summer Workshop - Copperplate Calligraphy

Fancy creating beautiful calligraphy with the traditional dip pen?

This is a 5-session workshop to learn about copperplate, a font since the 17th century. Copperplate is characterised by its open flowing hand and contrast of thick and thin strokes using metal pointed nibs.

Slow down and focus – enjoy the tranquility and clarity in mind and the refreshing feeling of creating something with your hand and a pen.

In this workshop, participants will learn:

To create lowercase and uppercase alphabets in Copperplate
To learn to practice drills and exercises to build muscle memory
To develop consistency in your calligraphy
To train your eyes in the aesthetics of copperplate calligraphy
To focus your mind and express your thoughts through your motor skills
Participants will work on designing a layout and write a quote of your choice as the final project.

Supplies: A penholder, nib, ink, notes and practice guides will be provided
