Christmas is just over, and it is time to prepare for the Lunar New Year. On top of the festive New Year Chinese Casserole (Poon Choi), a series of New Year’s cakes are indispensable! For Hong Kongers, radish cake and rice cake (nian gao) are the must haves: the rich oily aroma of cured meat from radish cakes and the light and sweet chewiness of rice cakes, both have their characteristics. This year, restaurants are launching their homemade versions for the New Year, and there is always one suitable for yourself and your loved ones!
