Why comics?

We live in a world where we are bombarded with messages and imagery. Words, illustrations and screens are everywhere. Comics, a marriage of words and pictures, are a great way to de-code the world around us. Join us as Canadian cartoonist Matt Smith returns to Art Central with his comics lessons!

This workshop is perfect for students who have never taken a class with Matt before. Learn the basics of comic book language: how to draw SOUND, how to make comics MOVE, how to make EXPRESSIVE characters! Everything you need to know to make your first comic! No drawing experience required. Everyone can draw comics!
