Hong Kong Film Festival is back for the 2nd year to showcase Hong Kong’s latest film releases and timeless classics. Join us for this extraordinary journey as we discover the past, present, and future of Hong Kong cinema.
The program features 7 films with a wide range of genres, from action-packed martial arts movies to dramatic thrillers and romantic dramas. The films will screen from 10th to 16th November, 2023 in Cinema Akil.
This year’s lineup includes Mad Fate (2023) by Soi Cheang who delivers a thrilling roller coaster ride of a fortune-teller's attempt to change a killer’s destiny while Where the Wind Blows (2022) by Philip Yung is a riveting true crime thriller spanning multiple decades. Back Home (2023) by Nate Ki, is a chilling exploration of reconstructed memories and an insight of the protagonist’s family dynamics. The Narrow Road (2022) by Lam Sum, is a tale of love, forgiveness and human resilience in trying times. A Light Never Goes Out (2022) by Anastasia Tsang, is an ode and testament to Hong Kong’s infamous neon signs and its makers.
Hong Kong Film Festival also features the popular classics that have made Hong Kong cinema a global phenomenon, The Way of the Dragon (1972) by actor and director Bruce Lee, as well as the newly restored Made in Hong Kong (1997) by director Fruit Chan.
