Don’t miss four superbly animated films inspired by the best of humanity; of common feelings and themes of unity, family and tolerance.

This series will spark imaginations through stories from around the world. Linked to the current exhibition at the Children’s Museum: “Animals, Between Real and Imaginary”, the films explore different cultures and civilisations through art and film.
Immerse yourself in this visually stunning world of moving images, including a masterpiece from Japan's beloved animator Hayao Miyazaki, My Neighbor Totoro.

The story follows Satsuke and Mei, two young girls who find that their new home is in a magical forest inhabited by a menagerie of mystical creatures called Totoros. This family-oriented feature carries a powerful ecological message and remains one of Studio Ghibli’s classics.

This visually stunning film explores the mystery of the night in a sweeping nocturnal adventure full of Alice in Wonderland-like characters. A young boy named Tim finds the secret world of Nocturna, inhabited by curious creatures who control the night. He meets hairdressers who specialise in bed-heads, dream writers, and a vast herd of guardian cats led by the gigantic Cat Shephard who help children to fall asleep. In this mystical adventure, Tim and the audience ultimately learn that the night doesn’t have to be so scary after all.

General Audience Inspired by Scandinavian folktales, ‘Beyond Beyond’ follows a young hare called Johan on a quest to find his mother, who has moved from his world to the land of the elusive Feather King. Along the way, he teams up with some unlikely conspirators and discovers connections between the world he knows and the one he has always questioned. Artful landscapes and exquisitely detailed characters give a wonderful dimension to the animated film.
