“Navigation with Coach Shawn” is a half-day drop-off craft session where participants will be learning the basic skills of reading the map and using the compass.
This is a 3 hours introduction to the art of map reading. We aim to cover the basics of map reading and how to use a compass step by step to give you the confidence to navigate in the forest. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners. Part of the morning will be learning the theory. We then head out into the forest to practice this theory. We could walk around 3 km at a leisurely pace.
About Coach Shawn
Shawn was enlisted into National Service in 1995. After going through 3 months of Basic Military Training, he was sent to 3rd Singapore Infantry Regiment for advance training. Upon completion, he was selected into the Scout Platoon. He was awarded the best trainee, with Best Navigation and Tactical Team Awards, during the Scout training. He was then sent to the Officer Cadet School to be trained to become a Platoon Commander. He finished his National Service in 1997.
