5 Levels preschool programs

Owlets get to learn in a clean, spacious environment that encourages creativity and independence. They are nurtured to be enterprising and confident. They equip Owlets with numeracy and literacy skills to confidently navigate the future. With FAR and WIDE (Farm in the City, Articulate with Confidence, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, Wise, Independent, Determined, Enterprising) as their guiding motto, they aim to let children grow up well. Classes are spilt into Active Learning/Project Sessions and Extended Day Programmes, with huge doses of creative play and artwork in between to keep the energy levels up:

  • Playgroup: 18mths to 30mths
  • Nursery 1: 30mths - 3 years
  • Nursery 2: 3 years - 4 years
  • Kindergarten 1: 4 years - 5 years
  • Kindergarten 2: 5 years - 6 years

Active Learning/Project Learning Sessions

During Active Learning/Project Learning sessions, children are taught in a bilingual environment. Classes are tailored to be engaging and involving for the children.

  • Letterland phonics is taught to their Owlets.
  • Project Approach is utilized to keep children engaged and involved in lessons (numerous hands on activities – maths, science, linguistic and fun project work are planned for children).
  • Children’s curriculum is planned to be hands-on and fun while making sure the age-appropriate milestones by MOE (literacy, numeracy, linguistic, physical) are adhered to.

Extended Day Programme Sessions

During Extended Day Programmes Sessions, children’s learning is further enhanced via a broad range of activities that are developed in house to support the core Active Learning sessions.

  • Home Green Science
  • Music and Movement
  • Current Affairs
  • Language Arts
  • Creative Arts
  • Creative Writing
  • Chinese Culture

Excursions / Field Trips

In Project learning, field trips are organised to enhance follow-up learning. Their curious Owlets go out on field trips to expand and broaden their horizons every semester. They advocate learning with no boundaries. Before each trip, owlets will prepare for the trip. The trip objective is reviewed and Owlets are given tasks during the field trip. It is during these excursions that owlets experience first-hand what they had learnt in class. It is through these field trips that owlets get a more complete perception of the world around them.

Inclusive Enrichment Classes

Jolly Owl Schoolhouse have carefully tailored two inclusive enrichment classes which will endow their little ones with important skills and knowledge – Letterland Phonics and Home Green Science:

Letterland Phonics - the science of words and sounds. Owlets learn to read and pronounce words by learning the phonetic value of letters, letter groups, and syllables. It helps build a strong English foundation. The Letterland phonics system is widely recognized as one of the best and used at Jolly Owl Schoolhouse to support and enhance their Owlet’s learning of English.

Home Green Science (Home Economics + Green Arts and Crafts + Science) is a carefully designed inhouse enrichment programme. The objective is to equip their little Owlets with skills to take care of themselves and the environment. It encompasses 3 broad range of activities:

  • Home Economics
  • Green Arts and Crafts
  • Science
