At Pat’s Schoolhouse, child will acquire life’s essential skills, be motivated to explore and stretch his or her imagination and given a strong foundation for future learning so that he or she may realise his or her fullest potential. He or she will also be encouraged to grow into thinking, self-assured and creative individuals amidst a warm, homely atmosphere, wide physical space and heartwarming traditions including family days, picnics, field trips, performances, cultural celebrations and a memorable K2 graduation ceremony and musical.

Programmes:

1. Infant care - At Pat's Schoolhouse, they believe "babies learn best when they are not being taught." Their approach to infant development is one of learning through fun and play. Key Features of their infant programme include:

2. Toddlers - Toddlers learn best when they are engaged in activities that involve their senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Play is thus the main focus of their Toddler programme at Pat’s Schoolhouse. At the end of the Toddler year, they would have had enriched experiences in music and movement, creative art and craft, cookery, Chinese language arts, early science and discovery, pretend play and dramatisation, early foundational mathematics, physical education and outdoor activities and English language arts.

3. Playgroup - Playgroup children spend a large part of the day interacting with teachers and friends in a creative and enriching environment filled with music, art, stories, rhymes, games, water and sand play, fun project work, as well as reading and writing.

4. Nursery - Language and social skills practiced through make-believe games come into play as Nursery children interact more and more with their peers. Early table games such as puzzles, board games. introduce the concept of taking turns and sharing, whilst letters, words and number-recognition toys and games reinforce math and language learning. Art materials (clay, crayons, markers, paints, collage materials) are a creative favourite of most children in this age group, just are skipping ropes, large tricycles and bicycles with training wheels.

5. Kindergarten 1 - By the time children are in Kindergarten 1, they will have longer attention spans and be able to sit for longer periods of time. They will also have more developed social skills, be more confident in using both English and Mandarin, and eager to create new ideas and expand their imagination. They will thus begin to experience themes and activities that seek to broaden their horizons. For K1s and K2s, Letterland becomes a structured systematic course of learning emphasising:

Phonic Skills
Whole Word Recognition
Development of reading and spelling
Sentence awareness
Reading & Comprehension
Creative Writing

Mandarin Language lessons will also be more structured.

6. Kindergarten 2 - The K2 children work well together on projects and tasks assigned. They will also spend more time working on solutions, reading, and performing as a team. They are now confident in conversing in both Mandarin and English and able to read and write in both languages.
