ISS Discovery School: Winter 2020 is here and we’d like to invite you to join us on this whimsical adventure!
A new addition to our ISS Discovery School – students can look forward to attending a plethora of physical and hands-on programmes to stay productive and happy during this break.
Three weeks of jam-packed activities awaits students and they can look forward to courses ranging from arts, music, drama and sports adventures!
Courses are open for all students aged 4-16 years old, and parents are able to join some of our programmes with their children as well!
Week 1 Courses
Soccer Training Camp
Fancy yourself to be the next Ronaldo or Messi? Join us in our soccer camp where students can expect challenging but achievable programme. Our coach will run students through various aspects of the beautiful game from passing, shooting, goalkeeping, ball control and game play tactics.
“The art of Being Festive”: From Pantomimes to Christmas Spectaculars
“The art of Being Festive!” is a series of Drama workshops and festive activities that will boost students’ communication, develop empathy as well as creative and collaborative skills through drama games, performances and a discovery and understanding of Christmas shows around the world. Students will be given a chance to share their own cultural experience, be exposed to various ways of celebrating Christmas through performances and eventually create a small act to be videoed and shared with their community.
Inline Skating with EXIS
Adrenaline junkies gather! Students can expect a program that will surely get their hearts pumping in our inline skating class. Beginners will learn the fundamentals and basics of inline skating. Starting from how to stand, move, and fall safely. Over the course of the week, they will learn various ways of skating, stopping, and turning. For the more advance skaters, as they progress, they may learn other cool and fun stuffs like sudden stops, high speed turns, jumps, and going up and down ramps.
Crafts, Bubbles and Scratch with Whizz Kidz
Students will be exploring the fun in crafts, bubbles and Scratch coding this week, in line with Christmas!
- Day 1 – Crafts : Clay Modelling (Christmas ornaments / baubles)
- Day 2 – Bubbles: Surface tension experiments + giant bubble making outdoors
- Day 3 – Scratch: coding and games
Dance: The Christmas Sweet Delights with The Graceful Swan
Each day will be a different character learned, depending on the age groups. A mini showcase will be performed at the end of the camp each week. Santa comes to town and both of his Christmas Elf helpers are sick. His elves are busy helping to produce masks for sick children across the world.To Santa’s absolute delight, many folks from different towns started helping out and he discovered more helpers…
Merrily Ring Carols
Explore melodies of holiday carols and pieces by playing Orff instruments, boomwhackers and other classroom percussion.
- Day 1: Focus on playing as part of a team; featuring boomwhackers
- Moving to Seasonal Music
- Day 2: Playing arrangements featuring Melody Bells
- The Nutcracker: Themes and Classroom Instruments
- Day 3: Layers of Textures: Melody Patterns played together on classroom percussion
- Feliz Navidad on Ukulele
Week 2 Courses

Arts, Crafts and 3D Printing! with Whizz Kidz
During the course of the programme, students will have some fun experiencing 3D printing actual snowflakes and snowmans using 3Doodler pens, crafting their very own christmas candles and make a mess of everything with slime!
- Day 1 – 3D Printing: 3Doodler pens (Snowflakes/snowman)
- Day 2 – Crafts: Christmas Candlemaking
- Day 3 – Art Science: Slime
Dance: Travel around in Singapore with The Graceful Swan
Who says that this Christmas is going to be boring as we cannot go to places? Let’s Explore and Travel in Singapore. It will be an Dance cultural exploration of Singapore and dancing to nostalgic classics. We will take the rickshaw to places..where shall we start? Hmmm Chinatown, Botanicals, Jewel and Arab Street?
Week 3 Courses

Fancy yourself to be the next Zinedine Zidane or Sergio Ramos? Join us in our soccer camp where students can expect challenging but achievable programme. Our coach will run students through various aspects of the beautiful game from passing, shooting, goalkeeping, ball control and game play tactics. At the end of this course, students will walk away with their very own Real Madrid jersey and collectibles!
Robotics, Science Magic, Crafts, Sewing and Canvas Art with Whizz Kidz
In this course, students will experience 5 days of fun-filled experiments to celebrate the start of a brand new year!
- Robotics: Christmas themed – reindeer / santa
- Science Magic: Rockets and launching!
- Crafts: Popsicle stick craft
- Sewing: Make your own drawstring bag to hold all your presents!
- Canvas Art: Get creative and paint up a canvas to decorate your room this New Year.
Rock Climbing (Onsight Climbing)
Students will be learning the basic skills involved in sport climbing such as .In this course, students will look forward to learning skills involved in rock climbing including improving footwork, hand-eye coordination skills, extended arms, as well as planning and strategising movement in advanced.
New Year Celebrations with Coding Robotics & Analytics with KodewithKids
Start the day developing computational skills as kids work on engaging New Year based projects which includes simple new year stories to STEM based topics like racing games in Scratch jr Coding. This is followed by hands on activity as kids make some exciting teacher guided motorised LEGO robot models that come to life with coding as well. The day finishes off with age appropriate fun math puzzles/activities that encourage kids to think out of the box, improve logical thinking and better process visuals.
Start the day developing computational skills using Scratch coding, by creating interesting New Year stories to STEM based Games and animations. This is followed by hands on fun activities using the versatile interactive Dash robot that responds to voice commands as well as coding. The day finishes off with age appropriate math puzzles/activities that encourage kids to think out of the box, improve logical thinking and better process visuals.
