As a violist, creative, and educator, Jeremy has been an advocator of the viola through various means, platforms and collaborations, following the conception of Sensable Music.
He enjoys teaching and spreading the word about this lesser-known string instrument.
A versatile recitalist, Jeremy has performed solo with The Chamber Players (Hoffmeister Viola Concerto No. 1) and Emmanuel Symphony Orchestra (Mozart Sinfonia Concertante) and has enjoyed extensive chamber music experience as violist of the Artsylum and Sophron String Quartets alongside many other chamber and ensemble projects.
Jeremy freelances with the Macao Orchestra and various local ensembles and as a pedagogue, Jeremy maintains a small private teaching studio for students of different ages and volunteers his time as an instructor with Beautiful Minds Charity. Keen to explore the mind-body connection in music-making and learning, he applies Alexander and Dalcroze techniques to his playing and classes.
Being involved in concert and events production in recent years saw Jeremy facilitate world-class acts (T’ang Quartet, Il Divo, University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and provide consultation for corporations (ST Engineering and Far East Organization). He is the current Assistant Artistic Director and General Manager of New Opera Singapore.
As the Founder and Director of Sensable Music, Jeremy yearns to create engaging musical experiences. Since 2015, Jeremy has curated ‘Potpourri’, an annual viola recital which aims at increasing awareness of this lesser-known member of the string family. These recitals have seen collaborations with Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and T’ang Quartet musicians, as well as the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO), and is ever-keen to produce fresh concepts centred on the viola.
