Wee Care Kindergarten

Wee Care Kindergarten

Wee Care was birthed from a heart that wants the best for infants, toddlers, children with special needs and their parents.

Wee Care stands out as the home-grown pioneer in research-based Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention programmes in Singapore.

Wee Care’s Mission: is to give all children an equal opportunity to learn in a safe and secure environment so as to graduate as confident, capable, articulate and creative individuals with a clear, strong sense of self and purpose.

Wee Care’s Vision: is to be the leading provider of `best-practice’ services in early childhood education and early intervention in Singapore, Asia and Africa.

Playgroups and Creative Enrichment Programmes:

  • Parent-Infant PlayGroup (4-12 mo) - Wee Care’s Parent-Infant PlayGroup is a unique programme that allows babies to learn about themselves and the world in which they live. Parents at Wee Care are encouraged to participate in the learning activities in each playgroup session as an integral part of a triangular model where “partnerships in learning” are reinforced. In turn, their team of specialist educators facilitate in the development of the social bonds that are required for motivated, directed and purposeful play.
  • Parent-Toddler PlayGroup (13-24 mo) - For new children, it is an opportunity to explore, discover and learn about themselves and the world in which they live. Parents at Wee Care are encouraged to participate in the learning activities each week as the importance of adult input in increasing a child’s level of development continues to be emphasised. In turn, their team of specialist educators facilitate in the development of the social bonds that are required for motivated, directed and purposeful play.
  • Chinese Speech & Drama - At Wee Care, they want to challenge these ideas and say that becoming bilingual is more than just good grades in an examination. It is about a way of thinking and a way of expressing one’s self. To this end, their new Chinese Speech & Drama programme has the following objectives: to equip children with the necessary listening and speaking skills to become good communicators in Mandarin; to cultivate an interest in and love for the Chinese language and culture; to encourage the children to become more confident socially as they recognize that they are able to interact with teachers (and people) from a different cultural and linguistic heritage; to develop a more flexible way of thinking and talking, especially when this contributes to learning how to focus on important information, multi-task and solve problems.
  • Creative Art - In Creative Art, they take the stance that children are narrating their ideas whilst producing pieces of “art”. Invariably, in the artistic process, there is “repetition” and “boundedness”; children begin to “do”before they begin to “make”, and there is exploratory play with materials and forms prior to intentional exploration of form and creation of meaning.
  • Creative Movement - Every lesson in this programme incorporates a Creative Movement with a Fundamental Movement Skill. In other words, every week, the children in this programme learn a Motor Skill, plus engage in movements with a more creative, dramatic, imaginary flair.
  • Creative Writing - In Creative Writing, their aim is to show the children that writing is a form of making meaning.
  • Creative Thinking - In their bid to support children’s creativity and in line with all that research studies have suggested are needed to enhance children’s creative potential.

Bright Starts, Head Starts & Great Starts:

  • Bright Starts I & II (2-3 yo) - Wee Care’s Bright Starts Programme is the second step in a child’s progression towards more formal and structured learning. Besides incorporating the playful learning activities of the Parent-Child PlayGroup Programme, Bright Starts establishes more concrete learning in pre-academics during structured classroom times.
  • Bright Starts III (3-4 yo) - Bright Starts III continues to offer segments of Open Learning and experience-based academic modules (relating to reading, writing, numeracy and a second language).
  • Head Starts I & II (5-6 yo) - These Classes are build upon the foundation of skills developed and learnt in the Bright Starts levels by incorporating the already excellent academic, play, Life Skills and The Project Approach curriculum with even more enriching and mind-stretching ventures like fund-raising (for charities), mini business efforts and extra field trips!
  • Great Starts I & II (2-3 yo) - Wee Care’s Great Starts programme seeks to give children an enriching immersion experience in Mandarin. Classes are mapped onto Wee Care’s highly successful Bright Starts programme and incorporate fun, exciting, hands-on and play-based activities in Open Learning, Life Skills, Numicon Math and Science, with the added distinctive feature of Mandarin as the language of instruction.
