A Supermoon occurs when the Moon comes a bit closer to the Earth that it appears slightly larger and brighter than your typical Full Moon.
But it's not entirely "super." It's just a colloquial term used to capture its essence. In scientists' terms, it's called "Full Moon at perigee."
We're hosting an open house event solely focused on public telescope viewing for the Supermoon so it's going to be free for all and there's no need to book in advance!
Invite your friends and families for a small picnic at the observatory. Just a few house rules, though:
- Kindly bring your own water and food, as well as chairs and mats.
- No tents, no barbecues, no bonfires, no loud music, and especially no alcohol allowed. We’d like to keep the venue as peaceful and as clean for everyone.
- Strictly no littering.
- And NO overnight camping.
See you there!
