In this programme, visitors can watch a set of demonstrations and workshops that convey the everyday lives and tasks of Emirati fishermen and pearl divers at sea.
Fishing and pearling have been a vital part of the UAE’s economy for centuries. This is because the Bedouin people settled along the coasts as the climate became more arid and the pearling industry grew.
Fishing and pearling combined duty and skill, as men invested time in dhow building, sewing fishing nets (al gargoor) and making sails, to be successful in their marine endeavours.
