In a magnificent display of the Spirit of the Union, GEMS New Millennium School is inviting all of Dubai's private schools to unite in their celebration of the 46th UAE National Day in an event that is expected to attract more than 100,000 students, teachers, and parents to Barsha Pond Park over two days from Friday, December 1, 2017 and Saturday, December 2, 2017. The event will run from 10am till 10pm daily and will be accessible from Gates 3 and 4 of the park. Admission to the event is free for students, teachers, parents and the general public. They are looking forward to making this event the first fully student-led and student-managed exhibition of the school year, empowering hundreds of members of Student Councils from Dubai’s private schools to take on the responsibility of managing their School’s Pavilion in the park!
School Pavilions 2017
For the event, they have lined up more than 1,000 exhibition tables end-to-end stretching more than 1.2km across the walkways of the park forming a long chain of exhibition space for schools to use. Each participating school may book any number of exhibition tables (each table is 1.2m long) to form their own School Pavilion where the school’s history, achievements, and programmes may be displayed to visitors. Schools are also encouraged to sublease tables in their pavilion to their own students, parents and staff who may set them up as stalls to sell their home country’s handicrafts, food items, clothing items, accessories or to promote businesses owned or managed by parents etc. While thye are celebrating the UAE’s 46th National Day, they we are encouraging schools to showcase and celebrate the UAE’s social diversity, internationalism, tolerance and harmony. Exhibition tables for school pavilions are offered on a first-come first-served basis. To avoid disappointment, please book your pavilion tables as early as possible. Attached to this email you will find a Map of the Park in addition to a School Participation Form. To confirm your school’s participation, please complete and return the School Participation Form to the school by return email.
School Performances
A stage will be erected in a central location in the park allowing participating schools to put on scheduled music, dance and drama performances for visitors at different times throughout the two-day event. Again, such performances should NOT necessarily be exclusively about UAE National Day but may be anything that the students have been practicing for and would like to put on for the general public to showcase what they have been learning at school. Again, Stage Time is offered on a first-come first-served basis and may be booked as appearing in the attached School Participation Form.
To avoid disappointment, please book your stage time as early as possible.
Student Councils Procession and Certificates of Recognition
The highlight of the event will be a ceremony to honor each participating school’s Student Council. The ceremony will commence with a Procession through the park that will end at the stage area where Student Council members will ascend the stage to receive their Certificates of Recognition from His Excellency Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality. For this ceremony, all members of school Student Councils must be dressed in the Royal Cape of School Governments. This is a specially designed gown designated to be worn ONLY by student leaders who are members of the Student Councils at their respective schools. If you have not done so already, they encourage your school to order capes for your school's Student Council members from its exclusive supplier in time for the event. These gowns (sample picture attached) carrying the ‘Pride of the UAE’ signature written in Arabic calligraphy, are supplied exclusively by the House of Gardenia in Dubai. They may be contacted on +971 55-5563111.
In order to prepare the Certificates of Recognition for council members, schools are requested to send them the names and designation of every member of their School Student Council using the attached ‘Student Council Form’.
