Phonic Tots was created with the vision to empower families in supporting their children to read and write. It is well known that children succeed at a far better rate when they have parents who have an understanding of HOW to support their child at home. I wanted to give families the knowledge, tools and confidence to do this.
Classes are fun, engaging, purposeful and active. Everything is carefully thought through, it may look like we are dancing or just playing with Disco Dough but there is meaning and purpose for what we are doing, weather it be strengthening little hands and mouth muscles, developing midline skills, tuning into sound or training the brain to absorb listening skills and relaying it to actions, just as we do when we write.
We build and scaffold all the skills prior to reading and writing, these skills give us the tools to over come hurdles independently during school age. Children will come away excited, motivated, seeing themselves as readers and writers from an early age. Classes are a safe place to have fun, be resilient, where adults join their children on their learning journey and model positive learning behaviors.
Phonic Tots is new to Dubai (born in the UK in 2018) and already in the short time we have been delivering classes, preschools are recognising those children who attend class as shining out amongst their peers. Children who have consistently been attending class have grown immensely in confidence, they are making incredible progress (as are their adults in their understanding of how their little one is learning and how they can help). We have got to know each and every child over the weeks and have supported them on their individual journey. Phonic Tots is a safe place for everyone to learn. We absolutely love what we do, we are here for the children and to help them believe in themselves at their own pace. Some children need to watch from a distance, they are still absorbing the learning, there is no pressure to join on the carpet if they are not ready… but one day they will, some children will always need the reassurance of their grown up, that too is ok! The joys of being an experienced early years teacher is understanding how children learn and what can be done to support them, every child is an individual and that is to be celebrated. Our classes have grown organically which we are super proud about and we are introducing more classes on request of our little learners and their families.
The success rate of children that have attended Phonic Tots Classes (or taught by myself) previously and achieved the Early Learning Goal in Literacy at the end of reception is within the 90% range!
There is so much to reading and writing before we even look at a letter. Come and give your child the key to the world of literacy.
