The Parent in the Parent-Child Relationship
Most parents have good intentions. They read books, seek advice from friends, and keep up to date on the latest research on parenting. They make goals and resolutions about how they will change the way they parent- yet often find themselves repeating the same parenting behaviours, day after day. Most parents fail to acknowledge their own role in the parenting relationship. We must remember that children do as we do – not as we say; and so often, what we do is determined by our history.
Attendees will walk away with:
- An understanding of the meaning of conscious and unconscious parenting and learn the importance of being conscious.
- An understanding of how a lack of knowledge about your own issues can be a barrier from being the parent you would like to be.
- Knowledge about the patterns parents pass down and how to identify them in yourself.
