Alserkal Programming invites you on a monthly series of road trips to visit exhibitions, talks, performances and film screenings by galleries, arts institutions, and cultural initiatives around the country.

 

The next road trip takes place on 7 December and will take you to Dubai's newly opened Jameel Arts Centre and to the Dubai Astronomy Group. You'll find further information about the road trip content below.

Road Trips are open to everyone and free of charge. However, spaces are limited to 60 people and reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Jameel Arts Centre

One of the first contemporary arts institutions in Dubai, Jameel Arts Centre presents curated solo and group exhibitions, drawn both from the Jameel Art Collection and through regional and international collaborations. Located by the waterfront in Dubai’s Al Jaddaf neighbourhood, the Centre’s galleries are complemented by Jameel Library, an open-access research Centre dedicated to artists and cultural movements in the Gulf and beyond; as well as project and commissions spaces, a writer’s studio, restaurant and shop.

Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park
A public, open-air exhibition space for large-scale artworks which was designed by award-winning architecture studio Ibda Design and built by Dubai Holding.

Dubai Astronomy Group

Visit the Al Thuraya Astronomy Center, which was established in 2018 by the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai. ‘Thuraya’ is the Arabic name for the open star cluster Pleiades M43, which the Arabs used as sign of optimism and good will, and even admired its beauty.

The modern astronomical center, built over an area of 2700 square metres in te shape of a flying saucer, was founded to serve the education and tourism sector, while promoting the Arabic heritage and culture of astronomy. It provides scientific awareness to the community and enriches it with astronomical activities and events. The centre has aims to be a beacon of creativity and innovation.
