Franco Film Festival @ Cinema Akil

Franco Film Festival @ Cinema Akil

Cinema Akil, in collaboration with the Embassies of France, Switzerland, Canada, Luxembourg and Belgium in the UAE, is pleased to announce the 13th edition of Franco Film Festival.

This 13th edition echoes movements in all its states: bodies’ movements, migratory flows, movements of creation…

The festival, which runs from March 10 to March 16, will offer regional premieres and festival favorites, all critically acclaimed. The opening night will feature the animation gem “No Dogs or Italians Allowed” followed by an homage to the pioneer of the French New Wave, Jean-Luc Godard, with the screening of ‘Breathless’. The program showcases the richness of French-speaking cinema with ‘Rodeo’ directed by Lola Quivoron, ‘Our Ties’ directed by Roschdy Zem, ‘Bootlegger’ directed by Caroline Monnet, ‘Little Nicholas: Happy as Can Be’ directed by Amandine Fredon & Benjamin Massoubre, ‘Last Dance’ directed by Delphine Lehericey, ‘Habib’ directed by Benoît Mariage and the awaited new feature film by Mounia Meddour ‘Houria’.

Select films will be screened in the presence of their directors, producers, and talent, giving the audience an opportunity to meet with the creators and engage in insightful Q&As. On March 10th, the opening night of the festival, Alain Ughetto, director of No Dogs or Italians allowed, will be present over zoom to engage in insightful conversation with the audience. Catherine Chagnon, producer of Bootlegger, will also be joining us on March 14th followed by Benoit Mariage, director of Habib on the 15th and 16th of March.

Dates: 10 - 16 March
