Pianist Alexandra Dariescu brings her innovative multi-media performance of The Nutcracker and I, by Alexandra Dariescu, to the Dubai Opera stage on 12 December for a festive family treat.
With a grand piano on stage, played by Dariescu herself, and a ballerina behind a see-through gauze screen, this wonderful new take on the much-loved story of The Nutcracker is brought to life with exquisite hand drawn digital animations projected on a gauze that follow the music and engage live with the pianist and ballerina as they ‘dance’ across the screen. This incredible fusion of reality and technology will leave the audience feeling as though they are in and a part of the Nutcracker story.
Be enthralled by Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet music featuring favourites such as Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian Dance, Chinese Dance, Pas de Deux, and the Flower Waltz in 15 virtuosic arrangements by Mikhail Pletnev, Stepan Esipoff, Percy Grainger and three brand new variations by Gavin Sutherland.
