Carnatic Queens Live at The Theatre by QE2 features vocal concerts by three of the top Carnatic music (South Indian Classical music) vocalists from India.
November 18 Padma bhushan Awardee Smt.Sudha Ragunathan - being the recipient of one of the highest civilian awards from the government of India for her contribution to Indian classical music,she has a glorious musical career that spans over 45 years.She has toured extensively all over the world and her concerts are much sought after globally.
November 19 Padma shri Smt.Bombay Jayashri - an Oscar nominee for her song in "Life of Pi" and also the recipient of the much revered padma shri award from the government of India ,SMt Jayashri has a fan following like no one else. Her music is considered meditative and all her concerts are totally sold out events.
November 20 Smt.Ranjani - Smt.Gayatri - This siblings duo are trail blazers in the field of Carnatic music. Excellent violinists themselves, they made the switch to vocal music two decades before and there has been no turning back. Crowds throng their concerts and power packed performances are the hallmark of their concerts.
In this series of three concerts these artists are accompanied by three exemplary artists on the instrumental section. Shri.H.N.Bhaskar on the Violin, Shri.Patri Sathish Kumar on the Mrudangam (Indian percussion instrument) and Shri.Anirudh Athreya on the kanjira(Indian Percussion instrument)
