Built in 1927 as the residence of Sheikh Juma bin Maktoum, the house is located in Al Shindagha area on the banks of Dubai Creek, near the house of Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum.
Due to the building's history and creative architectural features, it was reclassified as a museum for Classical Architecture showcasing the story and history of Dubai traditional architecture.
As an educational, cultural and artistic museum, as well as historical landmark, the museum celebrates the history and culture of the Emirates and its people. The museums halls contain a variety of traditional tools and ornamentation items used in the construction of houses in Dubai and the Emirates in general. The museum also contains displays that explain conventional construction styles and chart the development of building techniques and styles over the years.
